Modify Generic Translation Values in Catalogs

Catalogs provide a way to populate and administrate translations, help text and alias values.

Generic translation phrases can be used anywhere in a WebApp that uses the catalog where the phrase appears. Page-specific translation values, translations that are only applied to phrases on a specified page in a WebApp, are also available (Translations > WebApps > Pages > Phrases).

To modify the value of a translation:

  1. Select Admin > Translations > Phrases in Navigation pane.

  2. Click Translations for a PHRASE

  3. Click Edit.

View the field descriptions for the Catalog Phrase Translations (Generic) page.

  4. Select the Catalog ID from the CATALOG ID list box.

NOTE: The NAME field and the CATALOG ID field will always have the same value. There is no difference between the two fields.

NOTE: When a WebApp uses the catalog in the CATALOG ID field, the PHRASE OUT text is used in place of the phrase selected on the Catalog All Phrases page. The phrase represents the translated value of the phrase in the corresponding language. This phrase should contain proper spacing between words. This phrase is displayed in column headings of horizontal, vertical, and filter views.

  5. Enter the text that is to be used as the translation for the phrase selected on the Catalog All Phrases page in the PHRASE OUT field.

  6. Enter text in the DYNAMIC HELP field.

NOTE: The text entered in the DYNAMIC HELP field replaces the text that appears in the lower left panel when hovering over a column header.

  7. Click Save.
