System Administration

Set the Translated Column Header in the Excel Template

The column heading and Help text row in the Excel template can be translated to any active language set in System Administration by the Page Designer. Furthermore, any changes that occur need to be made by the Page Designer.  The language needs to be active before it can be seen and used in the Settings panel. Refer to Set a Language as Active for more information. The translated column header allows the user to view the template in their chosen language. To accomplish this, the system translations are used. Refer to Modify Generic Translation Values in Catalogs for more information. If the column name has a translation then the translation displays in the header row of the Excel template.

These translations can exist at three levels:

  1. The system level which is the highest level

  2. The catalog level which is the middle tier

  3. The page level which only exists for that page

The system checks to see if there is a phrase that matches the column name value of the second row of the Excel template for the current user's language, and then uses the translated value for that phrase. The search begins at the page level, then the catalog level and finally the system level until a translation is found. If no translation exists, row two displays the technical value from row one as a default. Otherwise, if a translation is found, row two displays the translation. If a translation does not exist for the Help text, the untranslated value displays.

To set the translated column header in the Excel template for a page:
