Add Column Help Text

Column help text can be added to any column/field on a page or the entire WebApp. To view column help, hover over the column heading. The help displays below the Navigation pane in the Information pane. By default the Column name and field name display.

Refer to Use Catalogs During Application Development for general information.

To add column help text (if the column property already exists, skip steps 4-9):

  1. Access the WebApp page.
  2. Click the Change Settings icon on the Site toolbar.
  3. Click Design.
  4. Click the Column Properties icon.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Select the name of the field that requires help from the Column list box.
  7. Select Text Box from the Control list box.
  8. Click the Save button; the Vertical View displays.
  9. Click Save.
  10. Click the Cancel button to cancel Insert mode.
  11. Click the Edit PageHelp icon for the column.
  12. If not in Add mode, click the Add button.
  13. Select (Page) from the CatalogID list box.
  14. Enter the text that displays as help in the Dynamic Help Editor field.
  15. Click Save.
